Review This great classic is beautifully decorated by Ernest H. Shepard in wonderful color for the 80th Anniversary Edition. Children of all ages love hearing about Pooh bear and adults enjoy sharing him. The book makes a wonderful read-aloud for children and the pictures aid in the storytelling. Ana S. (2008) explains that these stories are special because they enter the world of children and allow adults to be children, even if it’s just for the short time while reading. She states that Milne “…achieves a very precious balance – he doesn’t disturb the house of cards, so to speak” (Ana S., 2008). Review This is a beloved classic among children’s literature. This edition is especially nice, due to its modern illustrations that reflect the style of the story well. The font size is large enough that it might make a good opportunity for parents and children to read together. He personifies the diverse barnyard characters with eccentric but believable traits and captures the imaginations of children with the humorous, adventurous, suspenseful plot. Williams’s endearing black and white illustrations support the complex emotions of the characters, which are balanced with lively action and gentle text. Montgomery, L. M. Anne of Green Gables. Aladdin, 1908. 448 pages. PB $7.99 ISBN 9781442490000
Summary When Anne Shirley arrives at Green Gables, she surprises everyone: first of all, she’s a girl, even though Marilla Cuthbert and her brother Matthew specifically asked for an orphan boy to help around the farm. And second of all, she’s not just any girl: she has bright red hair, a wild imagination, and can talk a mile a minute. But she also has a sweet disposition and quick wit, and Anne (with an “e” of course—it’s so much more distinguished!) soon finds her place in Avonlea, making a friend in her neighbor Diana Barry and attending the local school, where she spurns the advances of the popular and handsome Gilbert Blythe when he commits the ultimate sin of making fun of her hair. Anne has a temper as fiery as her hair and a knack for finding trouble, and she also has a big heart and a positive attitude that affects everyone she meets. Age Range: 8+ years old Series Information Anne of Green Gables Series

As Anne grows into adulthood, children will discover that the world is a beautiful place where hope is always on the horizon.
