Review I find this title to be quite charming for multiple reasons. The pictures demonstrate the parent's care for his/her child. There is an element of text play in the way the words are laid out on the page. The differences in text sizes and boldness adds drama to the reading and emphasizes the meaning behind the words. Plus, it’s incredibly interactive when presented as a song that a parent and child can sing together. It’s catchy, but simple tune is perfect for spontaneous reenactments with or without the book (Flock, 2017). Themes Parental Love Love Dogs Puppy Mother’s/Father’s Day Valentine’s Day Application While it works really well for a close reading between a parent and a child, I’ve also used this title with great success in a Music and Motion Storytime. I do wish it came in a larger format for this personally, but I just got closer to the kids, so they could see the pictures and text better. I encouraged everyone to sing, howl, and make the kissy noise with me. It works well for themes like Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day (Flock, 2017). Read-alikes Rossetti-Shustak, B. (2005).
